Let’s be real. We’ve all seen those girls on Pinterest and Tumblr who look like this ^ and it’s intimidating; I mean… how is her lipstick so flawless and those lashes!! Questions we ask ourselves every day. To help you achieve this look at home we’ve got you covered from the products to the how too and even a few variations in case this isn’t exactly your style.

The Face:

It’s New Years Eve; you’re going to be dancing, sweating, maybe getting some kissing action, and your makeup needs to hold up. Even if you aren’t going to a club or huge party, and just getting together with a group of friends, it’s a long night, and you want your face to stay in place.

Primer: Make Up For Ever Skin Equalizer Primers

These primers are the bomb.com. They address most skin types including, enlarged pores, dull skin, etc. You can mix and match and use one on your t-zone and another over the rest of your face or one all over.

Foundation: Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation

This foundation blurs your imperfections for you!!!  The staying power on its own is amazing, and when you combine it with a primer, it’s out of this world. It was also voted Allure’s Best in Beauty 2015 best full coverage foundation. Buff this in with a dense blending brush like THIS one from Sigma or stipple on your foundation with a damp sponge like the Beauty Blender. This will ensure you get the best coverage with the least amount of product.

Concealer: Under the Eyes- NARS Creamy Concealer & Blemishes – Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

Apply the NARS concealer under your eyes in a shade or two lighter than your skin tone. This will brighten the under eyes and make you look more awake. Wayne Goss, a YouTube Beauty Guru, has this theory about a triangle of light. He believes that everything within this triangle stretching across your two eyebrows and down to your cupids bow if lightened will enhance your face and optimize “the most attractive” features. We can’t attest to if it’s more attractive or not but we love a good highlight. Check out his video for a more in-depth explanation.

Setting: NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder

After you’ve applied your primer, foundation and concealer set everything with a translucent powder like the NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder. This will ensure that your foundation doesn’t melt off your face and will add a slightly airbrushed finish.

Contour/Bronzer/Blush/Highlight

Take your favourite bronzer (we love NARS Laguna) and sweep it from your temples around to your cheeks and under your chin in a 3 & E form. If you want to contour, use an ashy contour powder to define your cheeks from your ear down the hollows of your cheeks. In the picture she has a muted rosy taupe blush that looks similar to Tarte’s Amazonian 24- Hour Clay Blush in Exposed or NYX’s Blush in Taupe, she doesn’t however have on a shimmery highlight but it’s NYE and going all out is really part of the fun of the whole night. Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors are amazing if you want that super shimmery almost wet look, or the MAC Mineralized Skin Finishes are a tried and true staple.

Brows: You do you.

Everyone has a difference preference on if they like them filled in or not, thick, thin, etc. This is a major personal preference thing.

Eyes:

Starting in the crease use an orange based brown like Makeup Geek’s Frappe to softly transition along your crease. Take a red brown like MuG’s Cherry Cola and pack this into the outer third of you eye bringing it slightly up into you crease but keeping the inner two-thirds of your eyelid clear of shadow. Over this, densely pack a plummy shadow like MuG’s Curfew into the outer “v”. Run a mixture of Curfew and Cherry Cola with a precision pencil brush under you lash line to lightly define. Keep the inner third and your tear duct area free from product.

Using a Gold Pigment like MuG’s Liquid Gold Pigment pack this onto the centre of your eye using a synthetic flat shader brush and a little bit of water or a setting spray like MAC’s Fix+ to help the product last. In the inner corner and tear duct place a light vanilla shade like MAC’s Vanilla Pigment over the area using your finger for optimum colour pay off.

Run a white or skin tone eyeliner over your waterline and tight line with your favourite black pencil. Wing out your upper lash line with your favourite Black/Purple Gel, Liquid or Pencil eyeliner. Finish the look off with lots of Mascara and Ardell’s Demi Wispies Lashes for a full-on sultry effect.

Lips:

The first step in ensuring your lips stay on all night long is to brush your teeth, exfoliate and moisturize BEFORE you begin your makeup. We suggest using an ultra moisturizing lip balm like the Jack Black Lip Balm. Once you’ve completed the rest of your make up dab your lips with a facial tissue or a blotting paper to remove any residual product from your lips. Begin by lining your lips with MAC’s Night Moth Lip Liner, after there are a number of options. For a fully matte look, Sad Girl by Anastasia Beverly Hills is one of the best Matte Liquid Lipsticks on the market, it has incredible staying power and insane pigmentation. If a matte lip isn’t up your alley, then a regular lipstick aka. MAC’s Media  alone or paired with a super shiny gloss will replicate the picture perfectly.

And there you have it, the perfect glitzy, glammed up NYE’s look.
