Pre and Post Workout Style

The trend of 2016 seems to be all about fitness and health. Simply put, everyone is on the “new year, new me” bandwagon. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this and I commend you for making the trek to the gym. It’s not easy walking to the gym, and then hopping on the treadmill for double the cardio or doing supersets for gains. A+ for both effort and motivation (insert thumbs up emoji). However, there’s always that internal struggle of planning your day around your gym session. It begins with “morning workout” and ends with “I want to look presentable for my crush at 8:30 calculus”. Or it could also go with “after class workout” and ends with “I have a meeting later and I got to look on point.” Admit it, the struggle is real because it’s workout and preach the sweats life or it’s look fashionable and slowly gain a six pack—the unwanted kind. Struggle no more, CFS has got some stellar suggestions for a fashionable sportswear look that gives off a sporty aesthetic that is definitely Instagram worthy.

Girls:
Mixing dark tones and lighter feminine hues give off a very cool and effortless look. Tights are like revamped sweat pants, it’s comfortable and the perfect base to build any outfit. Since 2016 is “turtlenecks galore”, this structured turtleneck is trendy, simple and won’t suffocate you. Sneakers are becoming an all year item so choose a revamped classic shoe that will last and be simple enough to pair with multiple looks. Socks—no brainer right? Well, here’s a life hack: wear a different pair of socks with your gym shoes to prevent your feet from incubating in foot stank. A few year’s ago, multiple fashion magazines were putting Starbucks cups in their style guides as if it were an extra accessory. I think we’re finally over that level of basic. Instead, we’re embracing the minimalistic eco-friendly water bottles. Finish off the look with a pair of sunnies and a modern duffel bag that looks as if it just stepped out of a design house in Soho, New York.

Boys:

Go for a classic look and mix it with some modern charm that transform into a revamped appearance. Black joggers are the foundation to a good day because your bound to look great whilst having comfort comparable to pyjama pants. Chambray shirts never go out of style, they’re relaxed and easy to pair with everything—well maybe not denim on denim? Beige sneakers can be both dressed up or down so it’s a good investment when your student budget can only go so far. Release your inner nerd or personality in an understated way with socks! It’s there…but not really so it’s a safe route to take. The gym is a sea of blender bottles so change it up with an aluminum canteen that’s a revamped version of the camping bottle from eons ago. Aviators and Wayfarers have been in style for ages so why not literally mix it up and choose an Aviator-Wayfarer hybrid pair. Campus—well the world has been taken over by Herschel bags and a classic dark toned duffel will definitely mix things up.
