Redcarpet Roundup: Grammys

This weekend’s festivities got a little bit (a lot) out of control; New York Fashion Week, The All-Star Game (in Toronto!!), The British Academy of Film and Televised Arts Awards, and The Grammys. To the brave souls facing one of these events let alone multiple, we applaud you.

The Grammys are known for outrageous and over-the-top fashun (Nicki Minaj in Versace at the 2014 Grammys), but this year the most ridiculous fashion statement was Buzzfeed’s list of everything Taylor Swift looked like in her colour blocked two piece ensemble.

To start us off, the recipient of the best album of the year, Taylor Swift. She is wearing an Atelier Versace dress, Stuart Weitzman Shoes, and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira. I love a good orange and pink colour block as much as the next girl, but that trend started in 2012 and was thankfully left in spring/summer 2013. Is it going to make a comeback? Or are monochromatic palettes here to stay? taylor-swift.jpg

LADY GAGA, she slayed the David Bowie tribute, and her hair, only Gaga could make it work. Her dress is a custom Marc Jacobs. lady-gaga-grammys-red-carpet-2016.jpg

Selena, Selena. Tonight was the night of her wearing side cut-outs. Her red carpet look, a metallic blue number by Calvin Klien features triangular ab-baring cut- outs similar to the piece by Cushnie et Ochs featuring even more daring under-boob cut-outs.selena-gomez-grammys-2016-red-carpet-taylor-swift-01.jpg

Zendaya rocked a blonde mullet and a DSquared2 tux, ever the fashion chameleon this girl can pull off anything in my opinion at least. Thoughts? Do you love or loathe Zendaya’s red carpet look?

The Biebs and mini Biebs. I think the first thing to address is the Draco Malfoy hair. It’s been popping up all over Hollywood,  Lucky Blue Smith, Adam LevineZayn Malik and Pharrell are just a handful to try out this trend. Both of Justin Bieber’s looks for the night (Red Carpet and Performance) were made by Saint Laurent. It seems that most of the gentlemen in attendance at the 58th Grammys were decked out in this designer, both the New York Times and Vogue have attributed that to the designer’s L.A. Men’s Fashion Week Show that transpired the week before.

Bella Hadid and the Weeknd. The 19-year-old and her Toronto Beau matched in all black ensembles. Her plunging dress is by designer Alexandre Vauthier. the-weeknd-bella-hadid-grammy-awards-red-carpet-21516-2.jpg

Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio stunned in this AMAZING Versace cut-out dress. She kept her jewelry simple with chandelier earrings and matching rings.

The showstopper for me personally was Ciara. She is gorgeous, and her makeup is flawless. Ciara is wearing Alexandre Vauthier, how she walked without flashing anyone is perplexing. The waist-high slit shows off her legs and is the statement. It evolves a simple wrap dress into a red carpet worthy number.

Last but not least we have Ariana Grande. I think she looks sweet, the dress isn’t super sexy, but the classic red of the dress paired with her signature slicked back hair reminds me of old Hollywood, vintage glamour. Her dress is by Romona Keveza, which she paired with Giuseppe Zanotti heels, a Jimmy Choo bag, and Niwaka jewelry.

Other notable looks of the night, Ed Sheeran in Burberry,  Beyonce in Inbal Dror, and Sam Hunt in Dolce & Gabbana.

What do you think about this year’s red carpet looks?
