Notice anything different about Calvin Klein recently? It’s a small but also significant change that may be hard to spot unless you know what you’re looking for.
Most of the general population are accustomed to the iconic logo on their signature undergarment collections, with high public demand for their underwear due to the wild success of the #MyCalvins campaign. With endorsements from major celebrities and models such as Justin Bieber and Kendall Jenner, Calvin Klein has built a strong reputation around the world for their branded merchandise. However, their entire pre-2017 line has just become a vintage collection.
Recently, in collaboration with Peter Saville, designer Raf Simons decided to settle into his new role as creative director by changing the CK logo for the first time since 1968 to an all-capitalized version, still in Sans Serif. It has received mixed reviews; some are not so ready for a switch and are reminiscent of Calvin Klein’s past lower case letters, while others believe the new design is simple and elegant. There are also those who don’t think it makes much of a difference (myself included).
However, if you were a fan of the old design, hurry and grab clothing off the shelves before the new logo is rolled out! They may even prove to be very valuable one day, almost like old era antiques that are no longer common commodities.
