The 3.1 Phillip Lim collection was all about femininity and female empowerment. Models walked the runway in pieces which Lim describes to express ideas of “new romantics, colour, curiosity, and courage”, undoubtedly achieving his goal to “mak[e] clothes that women want.”
Common in the collection are airy dresses and skirts, asymmetric ruffles, and paper-bag pants. Many pieces were also layered with loose mesh, creating loose and flowy silhouettes. Models were donned in both soft feminine shades of pink, clementine, and pearl as well as striking shades of black, white, and Yves Klein blue. The show opened with a pink fuzzy jacket belted with silver chain links and black ribbon.
This year, Lim brought back sock booties similar to his Kyoto booties from last season. Satin and patent leather booties in shades of pink, orange, and Yves Klein blue were paired with opaque, dark hoisiery, creating a dramatic contrast from the soft colours of the outfits–a classic Phillip Lim mix-and-match look.
