Black Mirror has taken over Netflix and now the fashion world? Jun Takahashi (Undercover) and Takahiro Miyashita (TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist), two Japanese fashion icons, teamed up for one of the most experimental collections at Pitti Uomo 93. All eyes were on Florence, Italy as their ideologically charged shows themed “order and disorder” were nothing short of revolutionary.
Jun Takahashi’s started off the show by channelling Stanley Kubrick’s classic, 2001: A Space Odyssey. In the collection, he mimicked construction worker attire and astronaut suits giving the outfits a very rugged techno feel while pairing them knit-sweaters and an abundance of tartan patterned pieces. Models also sported many articles of clothing which had printed stills from the movie on them. That being said, the true statement pieces from the show were the items inked with bold phrases such as “human error” and “computer malfunction”.
Takahiro Miyashita’s show followed with a much more aggressive lineup. The dystopian vibe continued, however, this time around, the colours were gone as Miyashita’s collection was almost entirely black, white and orange. The armour-like collection was the epitome of disorder. The outfits included face masks, oversized cloaks and ample straps/zippers that were apocalyptic and chaotic, to say the least.
Takahashi and Miyashita turned the runway into a battleground and it was nothing but BADASS.
