Abigail, Creative Director
Number of years you’ve been on the show: 2 years
A description of your position: Develop the creative vision and artistic themes of the show. We get to work and collaborate with almost every department to make the vision come to life!
Why did you decide to join CFS?
I’ve always been passionate about assisting with productions and felt happiest and most in my element being backstage. I was a member of the costumes crew in my high school theatre production club for all four years and wanted to continue being involved in behind the scenes work even after I graduated. After coming to Western and watching the show, I knew that this was something I wanted to be apart of. Not only does CFS support a great cause, but to see such a high-calibre show and know it was all run by students who put countless hours into it, was mind-blowing.
What are some highlights from your experience with CFS?
I was a member of Stage Design last year and one of my favourite memories was making homemade pizzas together and staying up until 4am talking. We became really close because we spent a lot of time building together in a basement and would always be sure to hit up McDonald’s after our building sessions. All the hours we put in and everything we made/did, from the 700+ nails we manually hammered for one set to the countless amount of wood pieces we cut and painted, paid off when we got to see the props and sets come to life on stage which was really rewarding! The photoshoots have definitely been a highlight of my year as well and I always look forward to them! Finally, CFS has allowed me to make so many friends and meet so many diverse, talented people which is something I’ll be eternally grateful for.
What are some things you’ve learned from being on CFS?
1) How to use power tools
2) Western is full of talent and there’s always something to learn from each person
3) What a group of passionate and driven student leaders are capable of
